Baptism is primarily a promise of God that the baptized is claimed as a child of God - that they been “sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever.” But that is not the only promise made at a baptism. Baptismal sponsors make promises. Adults getting baptized make promises. Parents of young children being baptized make promises. The whole community gathered makes promises. For this reason, we baptize within a faith community with the expectation that the faith community will help to raise someone in faith.
If you would like to be baptized or would like to see about your child being baptized, come to a worship service! That will help you discern whether this might be the faith community in which you would like to grow in faith or have your child grow in faith. Then the pastor can arrange to meet with you.
And, of course, if you have any questions about baptism feel free to contact the pastor. Just go to our contact page under “who we are.”
